Tailgating continues to be a major issue and those who follow closely behind others while driving may inherently struggle to react to a variety of scenarios. In the presence of such reckless behavior, even a minor shift in the speed of traffic could create a dangerous situation and car accidents involving such negligence can prove disastrous. One person has been arrested and is facing numerous charges following a recent rear-end crash in Louisiana that claimed the life of a 77-year-old man.

The accident is said to have taken place at around 5:30 a.m. on a recent Saturday evening. Authorities advised that a driver was traveling westbound on a local interstate when her vehicle suddenly rear-ended a nearby truck. The incident reportedly forced both vehicles to veer off the interstate before crashing into a group of trees.

Law enforcement agents say the driver of the truck passed away at the scene of the crash. They also say that the driver who caused the accident suffered only minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment soon thereafter. Police have advised that she is currently facing numerous charges in relation to the crash, including following too close and vehicular homicide.

Those who lose loved ones in fatal car accidents due to the negligences of others may wish to know more about the next steps to take to seek restitution, but the process can be complex. Fortunately, there are attorneys who can examine the incident and provide a person in Louisiana with advice on the best course of action with which to proceed. This type of guidance could help a person better prepare to pursue the restitution entitled through a wrongful death claim.
