Car accidents: 1 killed, 2 injured in single-vehicle crash

In some cases, the decisions or actions of one person can create a scenario that affects the well-being of everyone nearby. Passengers in a vehicle may have little to no control over the actions of the driver and when these actions cause car accidents to occur, they may be the ones who suffer the consequences. One person died and two others were injured during a recent single-vehicle accident in Louisiana involving the suspected presence of impairment and speeding.

The accident reportedly took place on a recent Wednesday night when for reasons that remain under investigation, the driver of a car lost control and veered off the road. After leaving the road, the car reportedly crashed into a nearby group of trees before erupting in flames. A passenger was reportedly trapped within the car at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter.

According to authorities, the driver and a second passenger were both taken to a medical facility for treatment of moderate injuries. Police say that an investigation into the crash indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor. They also advised that toxicology tests are being conducted, as impairment is also suspected.

There may be few experiences as stressful and daunting as losing someone close in a collision. With fatal car accidents that come as the result of another party’s negligent actions, surviving family members may choose to retain the services of an experienced attorney for guidance on the next steps to take to seek accountability in civil court. By seeking advice early on, a person in Louisiana may become better prepared to seek the restitution entitled through a claim against the party deemed responsible.
