Louisiana drivers are taught from the moment they begin driver’s education that wearing a seat belt is a must. In addition to keeping drivers and passengers safe, in most places, buckling up is the law. The proper use of seat belts can go a long way to preventing injury or death resulting from car accidents, but sometimes, people do not take the law seriously and wind up seriously hurt.
Recently, a man lost his life while traveling down Louisiana Highway 123. He somehow lost control of his pickup truck and ran off the side of the road. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, and the injuries he suffered were so severe that he was pronounced dead at the scene.
While many people enjoy the experience of driving, some take safety for granted. Each day, car accidents occur, and distracted driving, not wearing a seat belt and other unsafe habits can make a bad situation quickly escalate to a scenario that results in serious injury or death. While certainly no one expects these things to happen, car accidents by nature often happen when drivers are least anticipating them.
Often times, victims and their families may be so shocked by the devastating circumstances surrounding car accidents that they may find themselves at a loss for how to proceed. However, by enlisting the counsel of an experienced personal injury attorney, those adversely affected can determine their best courses of action. In many cases, an experienced attorney would be able to assist victims and their families in securing compensation to cover medical bills, funeral expenses, legal fees and other documented financial losses.
