Accidents can occur at any time of the day or night. Under most circumstances, those involved in car accidents would exchange insurance information and be on their way. Recently, one family has been left devastated after a horrific car crash claimed the life of their loved one on a busy two-lane highway in Marrero, Louisiana.
Authorities say a 63-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man were traveling together northbound in a full-size sport utility vehicle when the crash occurred. The driver of the sedan, a 70-year-old woman, was traveling southbound when she veered into northbound traffic. Police do not suspect alcohol to be a factor in the crash and reported that seatbelts were worn by all involved in the accident.
The victim was sitting in the front passenger seat and was transported to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV sustained moderate injuries and was also treated at an area hospital. There was no report on the condition of the driver of the sedan. State police are still investigating why the driver may have swerved into the northbound lane and said charges are pending.
Though no charges have been filed at this time, the family of this deceased victim, as well as any in Louisiana who have lost loved ones in car accidents such as this, may have the right to file a wrongful death claim. It may be in this family’s best interest to consult with an attorney to pursue monetary damages. A successful award can help cover the end-of-life expenses they are now facing.
